About

We are free shows in New York City, down on Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport.

No reservations or tickets of any kind are necessary.

All our shows start at 6pm with guest DJ's or sometimes early band sets if there's more than 2 bands on the bill - more value for you the free concert goer!

There are several parking lots within 1-2 block distance from the pier but we encourage you to take public transportation – it costs less and is better for the environment!

Founded in 2002, Seaport Music Festival (SMF) consistently brings crowds by the thousands to the Seaport's Pier 17. Rain or shine and always FREE, the festival’s summertime Friday shows showcase the cool breezes and gorgeous views of downtown Manhattan afforded by the Seaport’s location. Called “an essential indie-rock series” by The New York Times, Seaport Music Festival  books bands from just over the East River in Brooklyn to across the Atlantic in England or Denmark.  With 2007's breakthrough season featuring Animal Collective, The Battles and The National, SMF garnered rankings alongside summer institutions Summerstage & Celebrate Brooklyn (New York magazine). A darling of indie-music blogs, SMF is now trusted name in the downtown music scene with crowds of 3,000+ arriving for little known bands like The xx double that for more established acts such as The New York Dolls.

Summer 2009 brought record rain but also record crowds as the festival established itself as an integral part of the New York summer festival scene. Planning for 2010 is in full swing.

We were recently treated to a visit from Brooklyn’s Loose Limbs. We’ve been fans of the propulsive bass, 60's girl group vocals, stomping drums and riff heavy guitar of Loose Limbs for a while now and we were thrilled to host Arthur, Michael  & Corinne live in the studio. Listen to archive at EVR.
